Nikki, Owner of Integrate hk Private Practice, Parenting Through A Sh*t Time Book & Divorce / Separation Program!

Specialising in parent support and child therapy - offering both Play Therapy and Counselling, which uses a psychotherapeutic approach primarily used to help children to resolve any emotional/behavioural issues. She helps children process and explore thoughts, feelings and experiences about their situation, and she teaches parents the necessary techniques and skills to strengthen the parent - child attachment and manage behaviour.

Nikki believes that individual therapy has a great deal of benefit, but that when working closely with families and equipping them with the right strategies, tools and techniques to use at home can have a positive ripple affect within the family.

She has a particular interest in helping parents and children strengthen their bond - whether the "wobble" in the relationship is due to divorce or separation, grief & loss or other difficult changes within the home or at school.

With no plan or support and lots of uncertainty around me, I found myself feeling disconnected, exhausted, and withdrawn. My boundaries were weak and I became my own worst critic. The judgment I put on myself caused me pain; thinking I was “not good enough” and failing in every parenting moment. I thought of all the parents out there who would see themselves the way I saw myself and I didn’t want that for them. For me, all it took was one deliberate and conscious choice and little did I know, it would lead me to such an empowering place with a new positive mindset and gaining back control.

Through trial and error, I learned that the only way I could truly be a “good enough” parent was to admit that I was temporarily out of service, emotionally injured and unavailable. It seemed so out of reach back then, but through my own journey of focusing on myself amongst other learnings, I realized that I was connecting more deeply with my son; he was healing faster and so was I. As scary as it was at the time, I realized that I had to search inwardly and shift my mindset to focus on the things I could control before I could even attempt to parent well. I had to admit to myself that I had to personally do the work and change, not my son or the external things surrounding me. It was truly a journey. With my educational background specialising in child therapy and counselling, and my determination to support my son through a disruptive time, I developed a unique process called PALMS, which is found in my famous “Parenting Through A Sh*t Time” program.

Nikki’s Story

Back in 2014, I was Parenting Through A Sh*t Time. I was an overwhelmed and emotionally drained parent, and it had finally taken its toll on me - I was in desperate need of a change and fast! I was in the midst of processing a storm of intense emotions and trying to move through it all “gracefully” - in my case it was dealing with separation, court hearings, financial and home instability, grief/loss, and managing a little boy with “big” emotions. Balancing life, then as a single parent, and trying every possible parenting support out there, was proving to be a tougher challenge than I could have ever imagined. I felt alone.
